The White Terraces have returned

Guide Sophia would, I am sure, have been grateful to her whānau for enabling the treatment of the Charles Blomfield, now returned to the Alexander Turnbull Library.

Each stroke was carefully considered when cleaning this work under the careful eye of Carolina Izzo’s studio. This painting will soon be exhibited in the Katherine Mansfield Reading Room.

The true colours of the original work and details shadowed by the grime of decades are now revealed.

We are grateful to the Price family for funding this work, dedicated to Guide Sophia’s decedent, Cynthia Price. Her name will forever be associated with this particular painting as part of the permanent catalogue record.
