Marion's Conservator visit

3 June 2021

A visit to Studio Carolina Izzo gave us an insight into the meticulous conservation techniques required for the treatment of paintings. Marion Menzies Gibb is slowly being revealed and restored to her former beauty, hidden for decades under layers of varnish and grime.

The frame that surrounds her is beginning to gleam again, resolve its stability issues and, with museum quality glazing, Marion will be protected for many years to come.

Our team were privileged to see this work in action and to host ‘Paintings in Perpetuity’ donor Barbara Blake to see firsthand just what a difference her support has made.

We look forward to Marion’s return to the Library in the coming months.
