A scrapbook restored

The Alexander Turnbull Library holds Nola Luxford’s personal papers, relating to her career as an actress (1920’s – 1930’s), and later as a print and radio journalist (1930’s – 1950’s) including material on the ANZAC Club, The ANZAC memorial garden in New York, ANZAC Hour Broadcasts, ANZAC Day commemorations and the British American Ambulance Corps, all of which she was involved with throughout WWII.
One item, her personal scrapbook, relates to her time in broadcasting as the voice of the ANZAC war. It consists of newspaper cuttings with annotation and was used as reference document for her reports.
In need of repair, this has been lovingly restored thanks to a donation specifically chosen to honour Nola’s life.
Treatment of Nola’s Scrapbook was funded as part of ‘Paintings in Perpetuity’,
an initiative from the Turnbull Endowment Trust.
